SADLER
Phyllis Ann – age 72 of Fairfield passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Mercy Hospital Fairfield on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, after bravely battling several health issues. Phyllis was born July 13, 1949, in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Edward and Ida Mae Woodward (nee Bolyard). After her family moved to Ohio, Phyllis lived in Middletown and Monroe and in 1974 graduated from Miami University Oxford with a BS in Art Education. She was director of Middletown Arts Center in the 1980’s and then owned her own business, Phyllis Sadler Studio, creating wonderful artworks and scarves. She was a talented and creative artist working in mixed fibers and dying silk. She was the co-owner of art galleries in downtown Cincinnati, firstly 5th Street Gallery then Gallery 708, working hard to ensure their success. Her two great passions in life were art and animals, especially dogs. She volunteered at animal shelters for most of her life, adopting and caring for many dogs. She volunteered at Save The Animals Foundation, working many long hours to take care of animals in need, adopting and providing forever homes for many dogs. She met her husband Paul on Christmas Day 1988, both were walking dogs at an animal shelter, and they were married June 23, 1990, in England. They enjoyed many vacations in England. Phyllis loved the scenery and history of the country. She is survived by her husband Paul Sadler; sister-in-law Theresa Woodward; nieces Sarah and Katie and nephew Michael and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Michael Woodward. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 21, 2021, from 5-6PM at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, Ohio, 45014. Burial will be Wednesday morning at 1130AM at North Monroe Cemetery with Pastor Cecil Day officiating.
